This year paintings follows on from last years ‘Connected’ series. A series of work informed by the way we as human beings relate and interact with each other. My collage paintings are mostly abstract but if you look closely you might spot characters interacting within the frame, that’s if you choose to. I am interested in striking a balance between free expression of colours and brush strokes fuelled by human emotion and finding a moment of stillness. This is what I try to achieve within my collage paintings. For me the 3D dots in my work represents islands of clarity and focus.
The colour used in these new works where inspired by a trip to Dungeness last summer. Photos taken on the beach in Dungeness of abandon fishing equipment and a trip inland to explore the fascinating sound mirrors left from WW2 formed the bases for the colours used in these new works
